Barbican in association with Moving Worlds at Counterpoints Arts presents
World City: Insights on Migration in London

A Film programme and ScreenTalk

Join us on September 26th for a ScreenTalk with editors Russell Crockett and Herbert Hunger, chaired by Sukhdev Sandhu; and a programme of films including Cosmopolitan London (1924), The Vanishing Street (1962), Sampling London (1994), Lift (2001), and Hackney Lullabies (2011).

From the casual racism of Cosmopolitan London in the 1920s, through migrant displaced communities in the East End, to the multilingual lullabies under Hackney’s sky in the new millennia – this compilation offers a journey through the city’s moving worlds, giving faces and voices to its endlessly diverse neighbourhoods.

The films will be followed by an on-stage ScreenTalk with Lift editor Russell Crockett and Hackney Lullabies editor, Herbert Hunger. They will be joined on stage by our chair Sukhdev Sandhu.

Film programme running time 71 min
