Counterpoints Arts is a creative arts and cultural organisation exploring refugee and migrant experiences.
Our mission is to support, produce and promote the arts by & about migrants and refugees, seeking to ensure that their cultural and artistic contributions are recognized and welcomed within British history and culture. We do this by developing creative projects and approaches to represent the stories/experiences of refugees and migrants through collaborations with artists, arts/cultural and educational organizations and civil society activists working in the field of migrant and refugee rights.
Counterpoints Arts recently attained Arts Council England (ACE) National Portfolio status.
Currently the Counterpoints Arts’ board comprises people with experience and expertise across organisational effectiveness, communications and culture, advocacy and human rights, fundraising and finance.
We wish to strengthen the board by recruiting additional candidates. In line with our commitment to diversity, we are particularly interested in receiving ‘expressions of interest’ from candidates with refugee and migrant backgrounds. We’re also looking to recruit a candidate with specific skills and first-hand experience of working for creative arts institutions and implementing social change agendas, who is committed to promoting refugee and migrant rights in the UK.
You would contribute to our small but passionate board, offering guidance in arts related governance matters, such as innovative ways of building organisational capacity, marketing, fundraising, developing and sustaining national and international partnerships and engaging established, new and hard-to-reach audiences.
The board meets four times a year at our offices in Hoxton, East London, and you would also be expected to give some support to the co-directors between meetings.
