Bristol STAR invites you to a screening of Hostile, a feature-length documentary directed by BAFTA-winning Sonia Gale.

What does it mean to be British? What does it feel like to be told you don’t belong? This compelling and BAFTA-longlisted feature debut explores how the UK’s ‘hostile environment’ policies have affected four people from Black and Asian backgrounds. From archive footage and contemporary testimony we learn about the direct impact of these policies on everyday life.

An optional discussion about the documentary will be held after it has been watched.

All funds collected will be going towards campaigning against the Illegal Migration Act 2023, and to protect the rights of local refugees.

This screening is in collaboration with the Film Society, Amnesty Society and International Affairs Society.

Presented by Counterpoints Arts as part of the Platforma festival 2023 in collaboration with Bristol STAR (Student Action for Refugees).
