How We Work
We lead and support the development of local, national and international networks, partnerships and collaborations, and also offer support and advice to individual artists of all backgrounds and experience level and organisations of all size.
In working to build capacity, we particularly focus on areas of high migration and low arts investment. Aspects of our Enabling work include Refugee Week , the biennial Platforma festival and our PopChange initiative.
Our support for artists and organisations starts with a commitment to respond to all enquiries with at least one conversation and one follow-up. Our door is open so please contact us on hello@counterpoints.org.uk. Our ongoing support might include advice, support with fundraising and suggestions for relevant connections.
At various times are also able to offer commissions either via open calls or by invitation; showcasing opportunities either through our programme, connections or support with promotion; residencies; mentoring; learning and training opportunities.
We produce high quality work across different artforms – events, exhibitions, commissions, digital platforms, artefacts and residencies in order to showcase outstanding work and reach wide and diverse audiences. As part of this strand, we are particularly interested in developing challenging concepts and working with partners and artists who push boundaries, challenge stereotypes and question traditional viewpoints about refugees and migrants.
Facilitating learning is central to what we do. Our learning labs and platforms are designed as spaces for peer-to-peer learning – encouraging imaginative reflection, cross-sector conversations, skills transfer, and the sharing of evaluation and impact.
